《十二夜》讲述的是因弃养或流浪来到公立收容所的生命，纪录片上映一年后，台湾修法推行「零扑杀政策」，但弃养与繁殖无法遏止的情况下，流浪狗问题并未因此获得解决。第二集走出收容所来到社会不同角落，探讨流浪动物问题的源头。民间动保团体展开的「下乡绝育」与「结扎计画」挑战饲主长久以来根深蒂固的养狗思维、公立收容所的改建计画因「邻避效应」遭到抗议，困难重重、而改建完成的高雄燕巢收容所，却面临依然满载的情形。
